Jo Landy (BA Hons) is a local textile artist/designer who has taught in higher and further education for 15 years and has also worked as a freelance designer at international level. Originally trained in printed textiles she has diversified into many other textile disciplines including stitch, felt, knit and jewellery.
Dyes and dyeing techniques are of particular interest to Jo and so the exploration of colour, which deeply affects our moods and senses, is a continual challenge.
All materials used are hand dyed, often using natural dyes from the garden and the local environment. Sources of inspiration include the natural world, especially plant forms, which she studies through her love of photography and drawing.
Jo is a member of Southport Contemporary Arts, teaching at The Arthouse in Southport and privately in her studio where she hopes to inspire a passion for textiles and the craft processes which drive her own need to create.
